I was born and raised in a tiny suburb of Los Angeles called Toluca Lake. As a small child I was briefly featured in a news story about the wild success of the Teddy Ruxpin toy. The newscaster saw me and my mother in a toy store, and noted that I was a particularly animated child. This quality blossomed over the years leading to my victory in a screaming contest on Halloween night, which just happened to be at the Zappa brothers' house. (Also in Toluca Lake) Aside from early onset exuberance, I was prematurely entrepreneurial. My little brother and I scoured the neighborhood for yard sale signs, so we could set up lemonade stands where we'd be sure to get good foot traffic. We averaged about $100 a day.
Since that time, I've gone to school and learned more about how to get people to buy things. Working in a shoe store taught me that sometimes people try on shoes just so they can talk to someone. Working in a stationery store taught me the difference between the words stationery and stationary. Going to art school taught me I am way more mainstream than I realized. And working in an ad agency taught me that good ideas don't care who has them.
I still dress up every Halloween, and have a hard time sleeping the night before going to Disneyland. I'm good at remembering song lyrics and enjoy cooking and taking tours in my free time. I am a member of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens and once considered a career as a docent at the Hearst Castle because employees get to use the pool there twice a year. I like short stories (A Perfect Day for Bananafish) and long movies (Dr. Zhivago). See Facebook for a more complete list of movies, books, and music I say I like to accumulate social clout.
